Fango got the scoop from Media Blasters on the specs for its upcoming DVD releases (on the Shriek Show label) of BAD BIOLOGY and SMASH CUT, as well as the cover art for both; see it after the jump. The latest exercise in horrific perversity by writer/director Frank Henenlotter, BAD BIOLOGY (which hits disc next Tuesday, January 26) stars Charlee Danielson and Anthony Sneed as a girl and guy who each have more than the average sex organs, and embark on a series of separate, bloody escapades on the way to a fateful meeting.
The movie will be presented in an anamorphic 1.78:1 transfer with 5.1 and 2.0 soundtracks, accompanied by the following special features:
• Audio commentary by Henenlotter and producer/co-scripter R.A. “The Rugged Man” Thorburn
• “F**k Face: The Man Behind the Lens” behind-the-scenes featurette on Clay Patrick McBride’s victim photography for the film
• R.A. “The Rugged Man” music videos: “I Should’a Never” directed by Henenlotter and “Legendary Classics Volume 1” promo directed by McBride
• Production stills
Retail price is $19.99; Henenlotter discusses “coming out of hiding” with BAD BIOLOGY and assorted other subjects (with a bit of non-work-safe language) in a recent episode of the on-line series AMERICA’S BAD KIDS, which you can check out and the bottom of this page. On Friday, February 5, Henenlotter will be signing BAD BIOLOGY discs at Scarecrow DVD in Seattle, Washington, and on the 6th, Henenlotter, Sneed and FX creator Gabe Bartalos will autograph DVDs at Burbank, CA’s horror bookstore Dark Delicacies.
SMASH CUT, which arrives March 16, was directed by SUMMER’S MOON’s Lee Demarbre from an Ian Driscoll script, and stars David Hess from the original LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT as a horror filmmaker who discovers that real human body parts make great props. Jesse Buck, THE HILLS HAVE EYES’ Michael Berryman, porn starlet Sasha Grey, Herschell Gordon Lewis and his THE WIZARD OF GORE lead Ray Sager also appear. Exact final specs have yet to be determined, but we’re told the DVD will contain:
• Audio commentary
• Behind-the-scenes featurette
• Deleted/alternate scenes
• Gag reel
Retail price is $19.95; see Fango #291, on sale in February, for an article on SMASH CUT.
